Over at Reluctant Scooper, I once had a crack at an A-Z of hops. To be honest, it was good fun; I got to learn stuff that I had only tangential knowledge of, it benefited me to brush up on my biochemistry and a few people said they found it interesting too.
I'm looking at doing similar for malt and yeast, as both can cover a fair mix of science, history and hearsay. But what about an A-Z of beer itself?
Sounds like too much work to me. It's either got to be painstakingly inclusive - like, no doubt, the forthcoming Oxford Companion To Beer, or all a bit Peter & Jane with the occasional incongruous but necessary sidetrack; "Here is Malt. Here is Hops. Here is the diacetyl rest that also removes 2,3-pentanedione".
Perhaps there is a third way. An irreverent guide to the absolutely-essential beer and brewing terms along with some that are included just because I like prattling on about them. Or I can persuade someone else to write about them. Or I find another website that's written about them already.
So I'm going to give it a go. One letter at a time starting with A, ending with Z, but not necessarily following any alphabetical order between the two.

Suggestions for inclusion are welcome.
